The Woody Back to School Unit

A Belated Happy New Year and RIP Ronald Searle

0719

My humble apologies and a belated Happy New Year to all our friends and guests … I would like to particularly thank the Legendary Mr Chross, and the Equally Legendary BrushStrokes, who were both kind enough to give the publication of the latest installment of the Woody Back to School Unit saga ‘Volume 39 – Big Gals Don’t Cry’, a mention over the festive season … thanks a lot guys … not only did the latest volume get a staggering number of downloads but according to the stats in WordPress a whole slew of new readers are starting at the beginning of the saga and are slowly working their way through my little spanking saga … so a big welcome to all of you.

On a slightly less cheerful note I was sad to learn that the great cartoonist Ronald Searle past quietly into the night … Searle was many things but first and foremost he was the originator of the wonderful St Trinians cartoons that inspired a number of movies of varying quality and certainly there are elements of the St Trinian culture lurking in the dark recesses of the Woody Back to School Unit yarns and some of the potential candidates to appear in films based upon his books and toon’s have inspired several characters in the books.

The very best source of Searle memorabilia on the web can be found at Perpetua where 4 full pages are dedicated to his immortal Trinny toons.

Any way welcome to our new guests and bon voyage to Ronnie old boy (91 actually qualifies for Old Boy status!) … Please feel free to hang about and have a good old rummage … there is plenty to look read and look at and most importantly everything at Woodys is ABSOLUTELY FREE and COMMERCIAL FREE … Bottoms Up! … RH

  2. I know this is late, but …. RIP Mr. Searles. I first met the St Trinians Belles through the first movie. But I watched all the others, then searched out his illustrations. He was wonderful.
